13 July 2024, 10:00 – 12:00
Berwick Town Hall
Artist Annie Lord is running a stall at the Salmon Queen Exhibition and Fayre at Berwick Town Hall. She will be on hand in the morning to discuss her work and would be delighted to hear from anyone with stories relating to Berwick Bridge or who simply wants to stop by and chat.
This is part of Annie's artist residency, a Connecting Threads project in partnership with Berwick Bridge 400. 2024 marks 400 years since the first traffic crossed over Berwick Bridge. To mark this culturally and historically significant milestone, Connecting Threads has appointed Midlothian artist Annie Lord as its Lower Tweed artist in residence. This July and August, Annie is looking to hear from anyone who might have a story to tell.
Annie has been inspired by the 170 people who initially worked on the construction of the bridge. In response, she is creating a collection of 170 artefacts which will celebrate the unusual stories and alternative histories associated with the bridge. As part of her artwork, Annie is interested in hearing people’s stories, thoughts and memories about the past, present and future of the bridge.
As Connecting Threads artist in residence for the Lower Tweed, Annie is spending time in Berwick between July and September.
