Old Tweed Bridge
Robbie Coleman and Jo Hodges, our artists in residence for the Middle Tweed, have been exploring the pathways of the area and are now running a series of exploratory ‘field trips’ as part of their Trodden Paths residency.
On one walk by the river, they found a faded, weathered envelope - empty, with one word on the front written in blue biro: 'Babe’. The artists were fascinated by the envelope: what message was in it? A marriage proposal, a goodbye, tragic news or a love letter? And what was so special about that path by the river?
As part of their residency, Coleman and Hodges are running a series of public Field Trips. Field Trip #3 is an invitation to join the artists for a gentle walk along the river where the empty envelope addressed ‘Babe’ was found, and to write letters for inclusion in a forthcoming exhibition.
